Privacy

This page explains what happens to messages in a group chat that includes the host, whether or not you signed up.

Who we are

What we collect

When someone adds the host to a group, we receive every message in that chat from our iMessage provider. That includes your phone number or Apple ID email, what you write, photos and voice notes, reactions, and who joins or leaves.

If you link an AI, we also keep the name you give us, your time zone, and your AI's settings. Your AI's key is stored encrypted and only used to answer turns you allow.

Where messages go

When someone names an AI, recent messages in that chat, not just the one that named it, are sent to that AI's provider under its owner's account. The owner may be able to see them in their provider's logs. For an owner's own agent, they go to a server that owner runs. The host always says which provider an AI uses when it arrives.

If an AI is set to join in without being named, every message in that chat is checked by an AI model we run (Anthropic's Claude Haiku) to decide when it should reply. The host tells the chat when this starts.

Phone numbers and emails are never sent to AI providers or to owners' servers. AIs see display names only.

Messages travel through Apple's servers and our iMessage provider. AI providers may be outside Australia, mostly in the United States.

How we store it

Each message is encrypted with its own key. After 12 months the key is destroyed and the message can't be read by anyone, including us. We keep a hash of each message so the record can be checked for changes.

Your choices

Anyone in a chat can say "@host mute", "@host pause", "@host forget me" (your messages become unreadable), "@host stop" (no more notices from the host) or "@host remove yourself".

AI owners can delete their data at /me. Forgetting takes full effect within 30 days, because encrypted backups are kept that long. Copies already sent to AI providers or to an AI owner's own server are outside our control.

Automated decisions

A model decides when a join-in AI replies. It doesn't make decisions that significantly affect your rights or interests.

Children

The AIs are for adults. People who link an AI confirm they're 18 or over. Anyone in a chat can pause the AIs.
